The Dust on a Butterfly's Wings represents a comprehensive attempt to gather the very best of the forgotten early works of F. Scott Fitzgerald into a single volume. These short stories have for decades enjoyed a certain status as "lost" pieces, due to the author's own failure to reprint them in either of his first two compilations, Flappers and Philosophers () and Tales of the Jazz Age.
